Off Year Elections

Tuesday was a good night for the Republican Party as they celebrated victory in the New Jersey and Virginia. Many are indicating that this may be an indication of things to come in the 2010 Mid-Term elections, as it was in 1993. I hope that it is. The Republicans need to take note - the tide is able to be turned, but it won't turn if we keep playing moderate games. A cautious optimism may be in order - the next few months as the campaigns get started will be very interesting!

Abortion - Jesus - Pontius Pilate

Perhaps you are wondering why abortion, Jesus, and Pontius Pilate are all together in the title of this post. The answer is simple - the Democrats have gone crazy on their attacks of Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK). Governor Palin was nominated just under two weeks ago by Senator John Sidney McCain III (R-AZ) as his running mate in the Presidential Election. Since that time, the Democrats have been working hard to scrape up every thing that they can on Sarah Palin in the hopes of discrediting her.

Ms. Carol Fowler (D-SC) who serves as the chairwoman of the South Carolina Democratic party has made a comment to the effect that Governor Palin only has one qualification for being the Republican nominee for Vice President. The qualification that she has indicated is that Sarah Palin has never had an abortion. Perhaps Ms. Fowler is not aware of the fact that the Republican Party has a Pro-Life Plank in their party platform!

Aside from the fact that the Republican Party is a Pro-Life party, I have to ask Ms. Fowler exactly what she believes is wrong with a woman not having had an abortion. I fail to see the problem here. After all - if these libs are as Pro-Choice as they desire to claim - then they would have no problem with the fact that a women has chosen life. Therein lies the problem - they are not Pro-Choice - they are in fact Pro-Abortion! Ms. Fowler has demonstrated that clearly.

One other thing Ms. Fowler - Sarah Palin is well qualified to be the Vice Presidential running mate of John McCain and she is also well qualified to step into the office of President if it becomes necessary. She has served as a mayor and the Governor of the State of Alaska. She has the executive experience necessary. The fact that she has not had an abortion is a good thing and it does qualify her to be on the Republican ticket but it is only one of her many excellent traits!

Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) has also made some interesting comments. It is from Mr. Cohen's comments that the second two parts of this post's title come into play. He has compared Senator Barack Hussein Obama (D-IL) to Jesus and Governor Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate - observing that Pilate was a governor.

Let me set the record straight! Whether or not you support Senator Obama for President of the United States the fact remains that he most certainly is NOT the Incarnate Son of God, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ. For anyone to say that Senator Obama is Jesus is nothing short of blasphemous. Even to draw the comparison is absolutely ridiculous. There are many who would like to view Senator Obama as a messiah like candidate. They are entitled to their opinion however they are not entitled to actually equate Mr. Obama with the Christ. While I am setting the record straight, it is also inaccurate to equate Governor Palin with Pontius Pilate! Senator Palin is not setting out to crucify her opponent.

Mr. Cohen is apparently not the only person who has made such stupid comments. One begins to wonder just what is going on in the United States in this election. It would seem that many are not able to have the election take place in the realm of ideology but would rather reduce the election to such childish name calling. I would rather argue the issues and determine which candidate will best serve as President of the United States!

In case you are wondering I have made my decision. Senator John McCain is my choice for President. I am honored to support both he and his running mate, Governor Sarah Palin.

Old Glory Left Behind - Resurrected

During the Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War, the Minnesota First Regiment triumphantly carried the Stars and Stripes in battle. As the regiment moved forward during the battle, when a soldier would fall while carrying the flag another would pick it up. At the end of the battle, the Union Army was victorious in no small part due to the efforts of the Minnesota First. The flag they carried resides in the Capitol Building in St. Paul, Minnesota. The flag of the Minnesota First certainly was not left behind.

Following the Democratic National Convention event at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver there were nearly 12,000 American Flags that were left behind. Apparently after Senator Barack Hussein Obama (D-IL) delivered his acceptance speech there were many flags left behind. According to a story in the Denver Post the Republican Party is providing a resurrection from the dump for these flags. They will be used at a rally for Senator John Sidney McCain III (R-AZ).

I am thankful to hear that these flags that the Democrats left behind are being properly respected by the McCain campaign. I was also proud to learn that it will be veterans who will bring these flags that represent the country they fought for onto the stage. This is a great story - I am glad that I read about it on another blog.

Sarah Palin (R-AK)

I just finished listening to Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) at the rally in Dayton, OH where Senator John McCain (R-AZ) introduced her as his running mate. WOW - what a speech!

I am extremely impressed by Governor Palin. I believe that Senator McCain has made an excellent choice. She delivered a well crafted speech that spoke directly to the important issues of this campaign, articulated her qualifications for the position, addressed the opposition, and supported the top of the ticket with dignity and strength. It seems clear, that Senator McCain has selected a strong running mate who will be a formidable opponent during the next 67 days and who will serve well as the next Vice President of the United States.

Awesome!

John McCain Selects Sarah Palin as V.P.

Multiple news agencies, Fox News included are reporting that Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) is Senator John McCain's (R-AZ) choice as a running mate for the Republican Party's ticket for the Presidential Election. The "Official Announcement" has not yet been made - that should being coming soon.

A few initial remarks are worth while. I believe that this may be a good choice. From what I have been able to gather this morning the choice offers the ticket a solid conservative presence. Governor Palin is a member of the NRA, pro-Life, mother of 5 (one headed to Iraq and one just recently born with Down Syndrome), she is much younger than McCain, she is a Christian, and is purported to be a rising star in the Republican Party.

I was a bit surprised this morning when I heard that Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) was staying home to go to the MN State Fair (though I don't blame him it is an awesome fair) and that Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) was staying Boston. However, as I learned that Governor Palin was the likely choice it started to make sense.

Will Governor Palin bring in the female vote from Senator Barack Hussein Obama (D-IL), since he didn't pick Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY)? This remains to be seen, but I suspect it was a large part of John McCain's decision.

I'll wait to comment further until after the pick is announced officially and I have had a chance to digest more of the commentary from my pundit friends.

Where are the Republicans??

I live in the State of Missouri. I am a resident of the 1st Congressional District, the 14th State Senate District, and the 77th State House District. Tomorrow, as a Missourian, I will go to the polls to cast my vote in the primary elections.

In preparation for the voting in the primaries, I have been working to determine which candidate best represents my ideology. I am a political junkie so I actually enjoy this preparatory work for my poll going experience. What annoys me is that in many cases I don't have anything to vote for!

In the statewide elections, of which I believe there are about six, only two of them have more than one Republican running for the office. I very much would like to have a choice in the primary elections and am surprised that in many cases there is only one candidate. In some cases this is true of the Democratic Party as well - they also have fielded only one candidate. Some of these folks are incumbents and in those cases I don't expect any opposition from within their own parties.

What is most troubling is that in the case of the US Congressional Race there is no Republican candidate at all! The incumbent Democrat, William Lacy Clay only has one opponent - a Libertarian Party Candidate. Are there really no Republicans in the entire 1st Congressional District of Missouri who could at least run for this office?

While my State Senate District does not have a race this fall the State House District does. In this case, not only is there no Republican running but there is only one candidate period. The candidate is a Democrat. I would again ask - are there no Republicans? I would think there must be someone in the 77th House District of Missouri that could run! In this case - I would think there would at least be someone of any party trying to run - at least we would have a choice!

I am beginning to wonder why we are bothering with a primary in many of these races! While I enjoy politics I don't think that I am one to consider running for office. As a member of the clergy - I don't believe it is my vocational calling to run for or hold political office in the realm of the State. However, I believe there are solid people who do have this vocational calling and I would gladly support them in their run for office.

Democratic Primaries and Nominee

Is it over? Well it really depends on what numbers you are counting and which speech you listen to. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) just spoke in Manhattan. Her speech was strong and there was really no concession. It is true that she acknowledged that her competitor has more delegate votes but she didn't say she was backing out. She is still fighting. The question is what is she fighting for?

She is perhaps fighting for the nomination for Vice-President. Perhaps she should fight for that. However, she has a very legitimate reason to fight for the nomination. The delegate count may favor her opponent but the popular vote favors her. Which should count more - The vote of the people or a few elite party Super Delegates? As a Republican, a party without Super Delegates, it is hard for me to say that anything but the vote of the people should count. What of the disgrace in Michigan and Florida - their votes count for half? That hasn't happened since the civil rights movement gave equal voting rights to ALL AMERICANS!!!! How can an African American candidate not see the problem here?

Now Senator Barrack Hussein Obama (D-IL) is speaking. He is making nice to Mrs. Clinton. He also is claiming victory. Should he really be doing so and in the place where the Republican party will hold their convention later this year (The XCel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN)? I really don't think that he should be. First of all it is a low blow to take the place where Senator John McCain (R-AZ) will be nominated. That is just dirty politics and uncalled for. Secondly, how can he claim victory when more people voted for his Democratic opponent then have voted for any presidential candidate in the history of the United States of America? I don't see how he can honestly do this. I guess that is the problem - he isn't honest!

I am happy to have seen the contributions the first female candidate and the first serious African American candidate have brought to this campaign. I have no problem with either of them as a female or an African American. In fact if Secretary of State, Condolezza Rice were the candidate (for those of you in Rio Linda I should note - she is both a female and an African American) I would be overjoyed to vote for her!!! My issues with Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton are ideological and ideological only.

I went to www.hillaryclinton.com to night and I told Mrs. Clinton to stay in the race. Now this is partially because I support Operation Chaos. However, it is also because I firmly believe that she has a legitimate argument to stay in. She won the popular vote and Mr. Obama did not! She has a good argument to fight on. Do I want her to be the next President - NO! I want Senator McCain to follow Mr. Bush. However, should the Democrats be victorious in November then Mrs. Clinton would be my choice.

I am surprised to see that in print. Do I support Mrs. Clinton - NO! In January, I wanted Mr. Obama to be the Democratic nominee. I believed that he was the lesser of two evils. As the campaign has unfolded it has become clear that he cannot be trusted. He associates with known terrorists and confessed bigots such as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright - his former pastor. We need a President who supports America and one who has a spouse that is proud of America and has been (not one like Mr. Obama's wife who acknowledges that she has never been proud of America before).

So what does all of this mean. It means that we need to support Senator John McCain both now and in November. It also means that we need to tell Hillary to stay in the race and not let Mr. Obama walk away with a victory that he didn't earn! Stay the course in this election folks and fight for what is proper, a patriotic President!

More Trouble at Obama's Church

It happened again. Last Sunday, there was a guest preacher at Senator Barrack Hussein Obama's (D-IL) church in the Chicago area. You know the place - the home of the Rev. Jeremiah (GD America) Wright. This time the preacher was a guest. He was a Roman Catholic Priest, Father Pfleger.

Father Pfleger was there to preach the sermon on May 25th. Apparently, this priest was not aware that as a member of the clergy of the largest Christian denomination on the planet he should have proclaimed the Gospel. He certainly did not do this in any of the clips of his message that have been shown on television. My guess is he didn't do it at all and if he did his over-the-top political commentary would have overshadowed it anyway. What a disgrace to Christ!!!!

Here is the problem. Father Pfleger might have made a humorous, albeit very off color and inappropriate, stand-up comedy act. It did not however make a sermon. It also did not make an effective political address either. The pundits are all discussing whether or not this will be a big problem for Barrack Hussein Obama.

This most recent difficulty could prove to be a major problem for Obama. As a Republican, of course, I hope that it causes him no end of grief. As a Christian - I am absolutely nauseated at the fact that someone running for President is associated with such terrible commentary.

Could this rant against Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) actually help her? So that Operation Chaos can continue - I hope it does. In reality - I don't that it will make a large difference in the primary race. It could, if the super delegates get scared that Barrack Hussein Obama is a liability, but I am not sure this will happen.

What concerns me the most is not the politics of this mess. Rather, I am concerned that there seems to be no one who is pointing out the fact that this Roman Catholic Priest was not fulfilling his office and proclaiming Christ. Furthermore, this priest had no business "preaching" at Obama's church. After all, his church is not a Roman Catholic congregation. So there is unionism taking place here too. In this case I suppose it doesn't matter all that much - since they are all pretty much the same as far as Christianity is concerned - contestitory to Christ!

There may only be one good response to all of this. That response is to pray with great fervor these words: "Come Lord Jesus, Come Quickly!"
